Open House

Bring your family to see your student’s classroom and meet teachers, parents and students on the Sunday before the first day of school. This is a good opportunity to ask questions and let you child get to know the set up for the new school year.

Back-to-School Night

All parents and children are invited to attend this informative evening on the date and time indicated in the Events and Holidays section of the website. This is your chance to get an overview of what your child has been working on so far and what will come.

Parent Days

Beginning in October each class will schedule a day for every parent to visit class. On your Parent Day your student will greet you, introduce you to classmates and demonstrate some of her/his favorite lessons during regular class time. These visits are an opportunity for parents to observe the class, try out the didactic materials and see firsthand how your student is learning. It is also an opportunity to ask questions and learn more about the Montessori Method.

Spring Open House

Every student will take part in preparing a special presentation for you at our Open House. It is your child’s opportunity to show you what she’s learned this year. The evening is usually planned around a theme and you are invited to try activities in every classroom.

Newsletter

Be sure to read the monthly newsletter posted on this website for important event dates and times.

Calendar

The Early Childhood teachers prepare a monthly calendar summarizing the newsletter information to give you a quick reference to what your EC student has been studying.

Tomorrow’s Child

The school provides Tomorrow’s Child magazine to every family enrolled in Soaring Wings. This Montessori magazine produced by the International Montessori Council features articles and photos that closely follow what we are doing at Soaring Wings. Be sure to look through your copy for interesting articles, books and handy recipes.

Utah Montessori Council (UMC) Workshops & Conferences

Soaring Wings offers regular workshops and conferences for the Montessori teachers of Utah and surrounding states to freshen their skills. Parents are welcome to participate. Check the newsletter for details on the next one.

Educational Resources

The child’s most fundamental and earliest education is from his/her parents; therefore, learning about the Montessori theory and its application will be most helpful to you. Many Montessori references are available on this website or at the local library. We depend on you to inform yourself about the Montessori philosophy. By doing so, you will better understand your child’s experience at school, you will benefit more from Parent Conferences, and you will be able to offer your child greater consistency at home.
